Do not check oil level in the compressor unless a
component in the air conditioning system has been
exchanged, the coolant renewed or a leak repaired.
Unscrew protective caps (1) and (2).

Connect pressure gauge to suction valve.

Turn the temperature selector (2) and the blower switch
(1) fully to the right.

Run the engine at 1200 - 1500 rpm for about 5 minutes.
With the engine running at normal idle speed, turn the
suction valve slowly to the right to close.
The pressure gauge should read zero or below.
Stop the engine.
Warning: If the suction valve were to be closed
suddenly, a large quantity of oil would be forced
out of the crankcase.
Close the pressure valve (4).
The pressure gauge reading may rise to 0.5 kp/cm².
Slowly open the level checking screw (5).

Insert the oil dipstick as far as possible.
Warning: The end of the handle section of the
dipstick should be close to the compressor housing.
The compressor shaft may need to be turned slightly.

Check the oil level.

Use only the following oil grades for subsequent filling
of the system:
Shell Clavus 33
BP Energol LPT 100
Suniso No. 5
Texaco Capelle E
Suck out any excess oil.
Screw in control bolt (5) half-way.
Disconnect pressure gauge.
Connect reservoir flask to suction valve (S) and blow air
out of compressor using Frigen 12.
Important: Let Frigen 12 overflow slowly while closing
control bolt (5) at the same time.
Open suction valve and pressure valve.
Svrew off filling pipe.
Check compressor for leaks with engine running at idling
speed.
