Open the pressure valve on the compressor (the front
valve).
Drain the coolant.
Warning: Note safety precautions (64 50 009).
When installing:
a) Evacuate (refill) the system (64 50 009).
b) Check oil level in compressor (64 52 509).
Remove lower center left instrument panel trim (51 45 190).
Remove lower center right instrument panel trim (51 45 200).
Unscrew blower cover at left and right.
Remove screws holding side section.

Take off evaporator cover.

Carefully pull out the temperature sensor.

On Automatic cars:
Remove the selector lever screen.

Unscrew the fresh air grille cover.

Pull off the cable connections.
When installing:
Cables on wiper switch:

black-yellow	53 a
black-grey	53 b
black-violet	53

Cables on cigar lighter:

brown	-
red	+

Unscrew pipe unions 1 and 2.
When installing:
a) Do not re-use copper sealing rings.
b) Apply low temperature oil to threads to prevent
later seizure.
c) Insulate pipe union 2 with Not-Tape sealing
strip to prevent condensate formation.

Unscrew and lift out the retaining bracket.

Unscrew the evaporator at the rear.

Remove evaporator complete with spacer.
Disconnect the cables.

When installing: Pierce the hole for condensate drainage
again, to remove any blockage.
