Safety precautions: Frigen R 12 is not explosive or
flammable, does not corrode, has no smell and is
heavier than air.
When working on the air conditioning equipment, wear
protective gogles at all times.
Frigen R 12 evaporates at normal temperatures so rapidly
that anything coming into contact with it will freeze. If
any of the coolant should get into the eyes, wash it out
immediately with a few drops of mineral oil followed
by a weak boracic acid solution. Visit the doctor or
optician without delay even if no pain is felt.
Warning: Do not work in pits - danger of suffocation.
Before the air conditioning system is filled with Frigen
R 12, a vacuum must be produced in the entire system.
This is achieved by means of a vacuum pump connected
to the suction side of the compressor by way of the filling
column and a filter. Connect hoses between the coolant
bottle (1), the suction valve (2) and the vacuum pump
(3).
Open valves (5 - 7) on the filling column.

Open pressure valve (8) fully.
Open suction valve (2) half way.

With the vacuum pump, develop a vacuum of max.
-1kp/cm².
Close valves (5 - 7).
Open valve (1) again on the filling column and fill the
column with 1000 grams of Frigen R 12.

Warning: Refer the scale R 12 when filling the column.

Turn the blower switch (1) and the temperature selector
(2) fully to the right.

Close valve (1) on the coolant bottle and valve (6) on the
filling column.
Open valve (7)
Run the engine at approx. 1500 rpm until the coolant
(Frigen R 12 ) has left the column.
Fully open the suction valve (2) and remove the connecting
hose.

With a suitable leak detector, check all hose and threaded
connections.

The coolant inspection window indicates the presence
of sufficient coolant in the air conditioning system.
Warning: Run the engine at 1500 rpm. No foam nor
air bubbles should be visible. If this is not the case, add
more coolant until the foam or air bubbles have
disappeared.
