Drain some coolant.
Note when fitting: Bleeding of coolant system
cf. 17 00 039.
Disconnect hoses.
Remove cover plate and rubber foam sealing.

Note when fitting: Place rubber foam sealing (A) between
cover plate and partition section and press cover plate
hard against splashboard by means of water hoses.

Remove fresh air outlet grille cover cf. 64 11 290.
Remove cover from heater controls cf. 64 11 300.
Pull off air hoses for fresh air nozzles.
Remove intermediate section.

Pull air hoses for defroster nozzles off heater.
Press manifolds for left-hand air hose slightly together
and remove.

Pull buttons off control levers.

Remove the threaded knobs for the left instrument panel
trim strip.

Unscrew the rear switch plate.

Unscrew the front switch plate.
When installing: Install the switch plate so that the control
levers do not scrape against the trim strip.

Unscrew the heater.

Tilt the heater and switch plate inwards to remove.
When installing: First insert the switch plate into the instrument
panel and screw lightly down, then insert the
heater and tighten firmly. Check the foam rubber seal
between the heater and the bulkhead and replace if
necessary.
