A) up to 1971 model
Remove battery.
Fasten socket casing (1) for foglamp relay to support.
Fit in relay (2).
Connect cable (white) with the lashed-back cable (3) (white)
of the headlight high beam relay.
Connect cable (4) (red) to cable exe on battery plus
terminal.

Remove coolant equalizing reservoir (but do not disconnect
hoses).
Lay cable (grey/violet) along loom and connect to plugboard.
Lay cable (grey/violet) along loom and connect to rear
fog warning light switch (terminal S).

Remove cover at bottom centre left cf. 51 45 190.
Connect grey and violet cable to rear fog warning light
switch at socket S and plug board.
Fit in battery.

Remove bumper guard. Fasten reinforcement with carriage
bolt. Drill hole in centre section of bumper flush with
hole in reinforcement.
Fasten, connect and align for lamps.
Check for correct operation: Switch on light, press button
for rear fog warning light - green telltale in transparent
button must go on. With parking lights or low beam headlight
switched on, the foglamps must go on too. With
height beam headlights switched on they must go out. The
rear fog warning light must stay on in both cases.
Align foglamps beam according to specifications, using
beam setter.

B) As from 1971 model
Disconnect minus cable (1) and plus cable (2) from battery.
Open clamp (3) and remove battery.

Remove socket, take off insulation tape and connect additional
cable (4).

Connect relay to socket casing and insert in holder.

Lay additional cable looms and through front
panel.

Drill hole for cable in lower section of front panel. Fit in
rubber sleeve and pass cable through.
A = 195 mm (7.6771")

Unscrew bolt for bumper support and replace by bolt
from assembly kit.

Using new bolt, fasten support (1) for foglamp and locking
plate (2).

Unscrew reflector from foglamp housing and fasten housing
to support. Pass cable through rubber sleeve into casing
and secure.

Insert quartz-iodine bulb in reflector.
Unscrew locking bolt and connect cable (1) of quartz-iodine
bulb in socket.
Connect cable (2) to next socket and lead cable (3) from
housing to reflector. Fit on reflector.
Note: Do not touch quartz-iodine bulb with bare hands.

Check for correct operation:
Switch on light. Press button for foglamps and rear fog
warning light. Green telltale in the transparent button
must go on. When the low beam headlights are switched
on the foglamps must go on too if desired, but must go
out when the high beam headlights are switched on. The
rear fog warning lamp must go on regardless of whether
the high beam or low beam headlights are on.
Set foglamp beam according to specifications, using beam
setter.

C) Coupé only:
Disconnect minus cable (1) and plus cable (2) from battery.
Open clamp (3) and remove battery.

Insert socket casing (1) from assembly kit into support.
Connect cable (2) to plug connection (3) provided.

Unscrew bolts ÷ and remove headlight cover.

Lead additional cable line looms, through front
panel, and out between the sealing sleeves on the bumper
support.

Unscrew bolts (1) and (2) on equalising reservoir.

Unscrew lower bolt (3) and push equalising reservoir to
the front.
Note: Do not pull hoses off equalising reservoir.

Lead additional cable (1) along cable line and through
rubber sleeve.

Remove rear fog warning light switch (2).

Connect additional cable (3) to rear fog warning light
switch, at the "S" flat plug (4).

Fasten cable (5) to battery + terminal by means of the
cable eye.

Fit foglamp relay (1) onto socket.

Remove bumper guard. Fasten reinforcement member, using
a carriage bolt. Drill hole in centre piece of bumper
flush with hole in reinforcement member.
Fit on foglamps.

Open foglamp and pass cable (1) from the relay through
the rubber sleeve in the foglamp. Insert quartz-iodine
bulb in reflector. Attach cable (1) to flat plug after having
unscrewed the locking bolt. Also connect cable (2) from
quartz-iodine bulb to flat plug.
Note: Do not touch quartz-iodine bulb with bare hands.

Checking for correct operation: Switch on light. Press button
for foglamps and rear fog warning light. The green
telltale in the transparent button must go on. The foglamps
must go on if desired when the parking lights or
low beam headlights are switched on, but must go off
when the high beam headlights are on.
The rear fog warning lamp must remain on in either case.
Set foglamp beam according to specifications, using beam
setter.
