Carry out check with full tank and handbrake released. The car
must be standing on a flat surface. Measure distance (A) from
bottom edge of wheel arch to bottom edge of wheel rim on
the right and the left side. Load 441 Ib. (200 kg) into luggage
compartment as far to the rear and the outside as possible
(ensure that load is even). Under this load distance (B) may be
60 ± 5 mm (2.3622 ± 0.1968") less than (A). Push car up and
down at rear approximately 60 times (push evenly). The up-anddown
movement must not exceed 50 mm (1.9685") or the selflevelling
height, as otherwise the pumping function will be interrupted
and the car will move down to the initial position.
The Nivomat self-levelling units are functioning correctly if distance
(A) is 500 + 10 mm (19.685 + 0.3937) following the up-and-
- 20 - 0.7874
down movements of the car.

Important:
In case of replacement units, note additional colour mark.
yellow = High gas pressure
blue = Low gas pressure

¹) Always build in spring strut shock absorbers with same colour mark in pairs
(i.e. two at a time).

Remove spring strut shock absorbers, cf. 33 52 100.
Checking procedure: (1) trial, (2) measuring, (3) measuring of
damping forces, (4) up-and-down stroke

Important: At a total of 100 swings the excess load may increase
by a permissible 20 kp, but must not exceed a maximum of 300 k0.
The carrying load must not have decreased after a period of
1 minute.
Switch-off at desired height (d):
20 seconds after having reached switch-off at desired height the
carrying load may be a permissible 70 kp.

So as to avoid noises the bearing borehole in the bearing
block has been located higher up. In case of repairs,
please note the following:
(1) Needle bearing version:
Manufacturer's No. 6-3011-10-007-0.
Holding borehole in spring strut (A) = 42 mm
(1.65354").
Distance (B) on bearing block = 20 mm (0.78740").

(3) Eccentric silent block version:
Holding borehole in spring strut (A) = 40 mm
(1.57480").
Distance (B) = 20 mm (0.78740") for building into bearing
block.
Important: The spring strut shock absorbers with Nivomat
self-levelling units have a definite gas pressure inside.

For this reason never loosen the two locking bolts.
When scrapping, loosen bolts a bit and let gas out.
Then take off bolts completely and make holes in the diaphragms.
