Remove handbrake lever 34 41 000.
Prevent brake fluid from escaping from compensating
reservoir with two pointed wooden rods 6 mm (0.236")
diameter.

Jack up vehicle on hoist.
Pull handbrake cable out of protective sleeve.
Fitting instruction: Adjust handbrake cable so that the
brakes lock evenly up to the 5th click.
Remove silencer and resonator 18 12 000.
Remove propeller shaft and brake lines.
Fitting instruction: bleed rear brake.

Lower vehicle until the rear wheels rest on the shop floor.
Support rear axle drive with jack.
As an additional aid place a block of wood 50 x 7 x 3.5 cm
(19.7 x 2.8 x 1.4") on the lifting plate of the jack.
Remove final drive from rubber bearing.

Unscrew locknuts.
Slacken tie rods and swing out sideways.

Detach suspension strut shock absorbers at control arm.
Fitting instruction: tighten bolts in normal position¹).

Lift vehicle.
Run out rear axle.
