Force down the cover in a press.
Lift out the circlip (1).
Extract the cover (2),coil spring (3) and O-ring (4).

Extract the end plate.

When installing: Insert the pin in one of the small holes on the end
plate.

Extract the O-ring.
Tilt the housing until the cam ring and rotor can be removed.
When installing: The side of the rotor with the recessed hole faces
the drive shaft.

The rounded off side of the rotor faces the cam ring.
The cast-in half arrow indicates the direction of rotation of the rotor.

Extract the end plate.
Use a new O-ring in the housing and in the end plate neck.

Do not remove the drive shaft unless the cam ring cannot be moved.
Take off the belt pulley.
Extract the circlip (1).

Force out the drive shaft.

When installing: Check condition of ring seal and needle roller
bearing and replace if necessary.

Note: Installed depth of needle roller bearing A = 37 + 0.2 mm
(1.457 + 0.008 in.).

Extract the circlip.
Press off the ball bearing.

When installing: Do not alter the length of the coil spring (1)
or the thickness of the ring seal (2).

Remove the valve piston.
When installing: The threaded section on the valve piston faces the
coil spring.
Note tolerance group (1 or 2).

Clean the restrictor insert (1).
Pressure valve (3) is located inside the valve piston (2) (flow limit valve).
Warning: When taking dows the valve piston (2) do not clamp
across the sliding surfaces. The thickness of the washers determines the
cut-in range of the pressure valve (3).
