Drain oil. Caution! Never reuse drained oil. Note when fitting: If the oil has a burnt odor and black discolouration, the transmission must be disassembled. If the oil has a silver-grey glow, this concerns aluminium or iron dust. In contradiction to iron particles, aluminium cannot be held by magnets. Place car on a flat, level surface. Correct the oil level of a transmission at operating tem- perature with the engine idling and the selector lever at Parking. If the oil is cold the oil level must be about 1/4 higher than the minimum mark on the oil dipstick. The amount of oil between the min. and max. marks is about 0.6 litre (1 pint). Caution! Oil level too high: excessive foaming, loss of oil, temperature increases at high speeds. Oil level too low: valve rattling, foaming, engine slips when driving in bends. Loosen exhaust carrier. Remove oil pan. Note when fitting Install the bars and spacers (1) on the left side.
