A) Adjusting gearshift Move selector lever on transmission to position 0. Note control distance (S) of 88 mm (3.464"). Detach selector rod at selector lever. Alter length of selector rod (B) until the selector lever con- tacts point C in the gate. Now shorten the selector rod length by three turns with selector levers of version (X) shorten the selector rod length by 4 to 4.5 turns with selector rod eye (D). Attach and lock selector rod. Adjust the transmission switch after loosening screws (E and F). Instrument 0 in the instrument panel must light up when the ignition is turned on. Tighten the transmission switch. | ![]() |
B) Adjusting accelerator cable Caution! The shifting points¹ are affected by adjusting the accelerator cable. Remove air cleaner housing - see 13 71 000. Adjust tension element (1) to length A¹. Detach pressure rod (2) with accelerator cable (3). Press throttle valves (4 and 5) to full throttle position with operating lever (6). Caution! Be careful not to pull the tension element (1) into the kickdown range. ¹ See specifications 13 71 000

Pull accelerator cable (3) to full throttle point. The full throttle point can be clearly felt by pulling several times. In this position the tension bracket bore and the operating lever bore must be aligned exactly. If not, the tension bracket must be adjusted with the ad- justing screw (7) so long, until both bores are in exact alignment. | ![]() |
Secure accelerator cable to operating lever. Press throttle valves (4 and 5) to full throttle position and the accelerator pedal (8) against the kickdown stop (9). Adjust the length of pressure rod (2) so that the ball head does not change the throttle valve and accelerator pedal positions when touching. To check press the accelerator pedal against the kickdown stop. The throttle valves (4 and 5) must be completely open, without that the tension element (1) responds (see page 24-00/2). |
