Remove cover.
Take air cleaner housing off of carburettors.
Disconnect vent hoses (1 and 2).
Remove air cleaner housing.
Note when fitting: Be careful not to damage the air hoses.
Check condition of oil seals (3), replacing if necessary.
Disconnect wire at thermo switch of engines with a heat sensitive
bypass starter.

Make sure that the connecting hose to the heat sensitive
bypass starter has a tight fit.

Badly damaged hoses between the air cleaner and guard
will leas to carburettor icing (failure).
Check throttle valve for warm air control and ease of
movement - see 13 73 004.
For versions with an expansion element in the cold air stream the
opening for the warm air inlet (C) has been increased from 50 mm
(1.968") to 60 mm (2.362").

Knock dirt out of air filter cartridges gently and clean on inside
and outside with compressed air at a maximum pressure of 5 atm (71 psi).
Replace air filter cartridges every 15,000 km (9,000 miles).

For fuel injection engines:
Loosen clamp on throttle housing.
Lift air cleaner housing out of guide rails.
Disconnect hose at front wall.

Note when fitting: Open quick fasteners.
Knock dirt out of air filter cartridge gently or clean it from
the back (opposite TOP) with compressed air at a maximum
of 5 atm (71 psi).
Replace air filter cartridge every 12,000 km (7,500 miles).
