The pulse transduces produces a speed-controlled alternating
current of about 0.3-100 V-control voltage-which is used to release the ignition
spark.
a) Checking
Detach transducer wire at plug between the distributor and
control unit.
Connect program tester.
Red test cable to terminal 7; black to terminal 31 d.
Set range switch at x 0.1 volt.
Operate starter motor.
The pulse transducer is good if the reading is at least 0.05 volts.
The defect it then in the control unit.

b) Replacing
Remove distributor rotor and guard.
Loosen and pull out vacuum control.
Note when fitting: Turn stator to the left.

Remove retaining plate (1).
Pull out contact feed straight carefully.

Coution! Position rotor and stator teeth opposite each
other and check clearance (A).
A = 0.35 to 0.70 mm (0.014 to 0.027").
Remove circlip (2).
Remove expander ring (3).

Press up rotor (4) carefully with two screwdrivers applied
opposite each other.
Coution! Dowel pin (5).
Note when fitting: The opening in the rotor must align
with the groove in the distributor shaft.

Remove thrust washer (7).
Loosen the three mounting screws of the pulse transducer
carrier plate with a 2.5 mm (0.098") socket wrench.
Remove circlip (6).

Loosen retaining clips.
Lift out carrier plate with pulse transducer.

Take pulse transducer off of carrier plate.
Note when fitting The connecting lugs must be positioned in
the opening in the contact feed.
