Secure cylinder head in assembly support No. 7003-1.
Unscrew spark plugs.
Remove valve caps.

Remove spring plate and spring.
When installing: Note length A¹ with the spring relaxed.
Important: The valve spring is progressively wound. The
end with the tighter winding - paint mark - must face towards the cylinder
head.

Remove burrs and ridges from valve shaft so as to avoid
damage to valve stem cover and valve guide.
Replace damaged valve stem covers (A) as oil consumption
will otherwise increase.
When installing: Cover ring grooves with adhesive tape
before installing the valve stem cover.
