A) Engine installed Take off front lower apron (57 47 490). Drain engine oil. Take off the stabiliser. | ![]() |
Loosen the alternator. Take off the high pressure oil pump - the hoses remain connected. Take out screw (1). | ![]() |
Loosen the bearing block until the oil sump can be detached. | ![]() |
Partly detach the support braket. Loosen the oil sump. | ![]() |
Turn the crankshaft until connecting rod 6 is above the sump joint line. Lower the front of the sump, turn the rear towards the support bracket and remove. When installing: See removal rocedure with engine removed. | ![]() |
If the oilpressure telltale light up after the car is braked hard or when long-draw bends are taken, it is advised to provide the engine with modified oil sump, spare part No. 11 13 1 256 121, and with midified oil pump, spare part No. 11 41 1 256 305 - see also "11 41 000 Oil um - removing and installing". In case of installing the modified oil pump while simultanously re-utilizing the old oil sump, covering in oil sump must be altered as per drawing¹), see also 11 41 000 Oil pump - removing and installing". Furthermore, the new type oil dipstick, spare part No. 11 41 1 255 646 must be fitted. ¹) All dimensions quoted in mms. | ![]() |
In case of re-utilization of the old oil sump when installing a modified oil pump, spare part Nr. 11 41 1 256 305, cut to size a metal sheet of 0.75 ÷ 1.5 mm (0.029 ÷ 0.059") thickness and mount to oil sump with bolts M 6 x 10, nuts and lock washer (B) as per drawing¹). Furthermore, transfer the mountings from the old to the new pump, see 11 41 000 - Removing and refitting the oil pump. ¹) All dimensions quoted in mms. 11 41 000
