Pull cables 1 and 4 off remote thermometer switch. Disconnect earth cable from cylinder head cover. |  |
Remove cooling fan. |  |
Note:Correct position of driving disc when assembling. |  |
Disconnect vacuum hose and fuel hose. Pull cable off automatic starter. |  |
Pull cable off automatic starter and oil pressure switch. Disconnect flat earth cable. Remove water hoses. |  |
Disconnect cable from magnetic switch. black/red black 50 |  |
Remove cable and plug connection from alternator. |  |
Detach accelerator linkage. Loosen both engine mountings. |  |
Remove lower apron on front panelling (51 47 490). Only on vehicles with power steering: detach high presure pump at rear.  51 47 490

Detach high pressure pump at front. When installing: It should be possible to depress the V-belt by 5 - 10 mm (0.2 - 0.4 in). |  |
Attach hoist 7000 at front of engine. |  |
Attach hoist 7000 at rear of engine. |  |
Remove gearbox (23 00 020). Push back sleeve (1). Remove circlip (2). Extract slave cylinder towards front. If internal cluth operating meachanism is installed: Pull back-up (reversigd) light lead and clutch hydraulic hose out of retaining clips. 23 00 020

Disconnect cluth throwout arm from retaining springs. When installing: Coat angled seal and ball pin with Molykote Longterm 2. Pack the lubricating groove (N) with Molykote Longterm 2. If this precaution is not taken, the throwout arm will seize. |  |
Raise engine ans swing out of the right. |  |
Take of engine lid cf. 41 61 000. Disconnect minus cable from battery. Remove screenwasher reservoir. Remove air filter. 41 61 000

Removal of radiator cf. 17 11 000. Pull cables off terminals 1 and 4 (inductive switch), ff ignition coil and pull cable 15 (white) off pre-resitor. 17 11 000

Remove loom from engine support 61 12 021a) or separate loom connections from engine 61 12 021b). For version with loom plug: Remove loom plug. Note: Replace rubber sealing (1) if porous. Plug connections must be in perfect condition otherwise functionability is impaired. 61 12 021 a 61 12 021 b

Remove vacuum hoses 2 and 3 from collector vessel and water hose 4 from equalizing reservoir. |  |
Pull plug (5) off pressure sensor. Pull cable (brown/green) for oil pressure switch (6) off plug connection. |  |
Pull plugs (7) and (8) off main realy and time switchover realy. |  |
Pull cable 50 (black) out of plug connection and cable 16 (red/black) off starter. Remove cable 30 (red) from starter and pull out of holding eye. Disconnect throttle linkage bars. |  |
Disconnect heater hoses (9) and (10). Note when fitting:Press plate (11) with hoses hard against the splashboard. Remove earth cable from splashboard. |  |
Pull plug (12) out of alternator. Disconnect cable 30 (red). |  |
Remove fuel hose from pressure regulator and circular pipes (13) and (14). Pull cable off remote thermometer switch. |  |
Remove cooling fan. Note: Correct position of driving plate when assembling. |  |
Unscrew right-hand engine mounting. |  |
Unscrew left-hand engine mounting. |  |
Remove floor protection plate for front panel cf. 51 47 490. Remove high-pressure pump at rear. 51 47 490

Remove high-pressure pump at front. Note when fitting: V-belt tension should be such that V-belt can be press in 5 ÷ 10 mm. |  |
